Are You A Control Freak?

I firmly believe that the vast majority of our problems stem from this need we have to be in control...

The question we need to ask then is, "Why do we need to control? Where does this need come from? What can we do about it?"

All very good questions, and in the brief video below I try to give a small insight into this problem. As always, please feel free to comment, like, or share this blog post.

It's All About You...

It really doesn't matter what clients come to me for, in regards to the type of coaching they require...

Be it a healthier, stronger body, more loving and joyous relationships, more productivity and profitability in their business, etc. the list is endless to be honest.

What does matter is the type of work we need to do...

You see, most clients come to me with the idea that EXTERNAL 'things' need to change - When in fact it's an INTERNAL journey in the first instance.

In the brief video below, I explain why this is so. As always, please feel free to comment, like, or share this blog post...

Have A Personal Philosophy...

I truly believe that it's vital that each of us has our own personal philosophy.

In many ways, our lives are shaped by the things we hold most sacred to us, and when we can define what they are, we can then use them as a north star if you will, something that directs everything we do in our lives...

In the brief video below I explain why it's so important to forge your own personal philosophy. As always please feel free to comment, like, or share this blog post...

Do Your Thoughts Affect Your Future?

One of the first questions I usually ask a new client is if they believe that their thoughts somehow shape their future.

Usually they reply yes. However, when I follow up with and ask if they have spent any time recently crafting that future, the answer is usually no.

In the brief video below, I explain how this 'GAP' is damaging to your attempts to improve your life and play at the level of mastery.

We See The World As We Are...

We NEVER see the world as it is... We see it as we are.

What exactly do I mean by that?

Have you heard of Plato's 'Allegory Of The Cave' by any chance? It was Plato's way of showing the difference between what people perceive to be real, and what is actually reality.

Prisoners are tied to the floor of a cage and can only see a wall. Behind them is a lit fire and between the fire and the prisoners is a raised walkway upon which people from outside the cave walk with various every day objects.

The fire casts shadows upon the wall that the prisoners look at and they begin to 'see' the shadows as what is real in their perception.

One day one of the prisoners escapes and is shocked by what he sees in the outside world. He realises that the shadows are nothing but an illusion and rushes back to tell his comrades what he has seen.

They obviously do not believe him and threaten to kill him should he try to leave again!

In the brief video below, I explain how we see the world according to our perceptions of it and not what it is really like. Understanding the illusory nature of our perception is the first stage to real personal growth.

Direct Your Focus Internally...

I think we would all agree that the 'default' setting for most of us is one of stress...

Now, I understand only too well that part of our genetic make up is our ability to handle stress as and when it occurs...

After all, we've all heard of the 'fight and flight' response that occurs when we face such an event.

The thing is though, the fight of flight response was only ever designed to be a temporary event, not a default setting!

In the brief video below I speak of why this is a problem for the majority of people and, as always, please feel free to comment, like, or share this blog post...

Develop A Positive Inner Dialogue..

We, as humans, have this annoying habit of talking to ourselves in a way that we would never allow anyone else to do...

Why do we do this?

What do we stand to gain from this 'practice?'

In my coaching sessions, and in the brief video below, I encourage you to forget this common trait and become your own biggest and best cheerleader...

Which 'Self' Are You...

William Shakespeare put it so eloquently when he wrote, "Above all, to thine own self be true..." from the opening act in Hamlet...

But which 'self' is Shakespeare referring? After all, we seem to have so many... We have a fearful self, a jealous self, an angry self, a frustrated self, the list is almost endless...

In the brief video below, I explain that these are NOT your true selves, they are in fact roles you adopt that keep you from your own true self - that of observer...

The Power Of Silence...

Coming to the Middle East for a while (I'm currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), has forced me to have a long, introspective look at certain things I have always taken for granted.

One of the benefits of this is the amount of power and peace I have found in silence.

In the brief video below I talk a little of this and how I've had to adjust to my life here in the desert!
